Record-breaking pizza in the clouds: AVPN scales Mont Blanc for Europe's highest Neapolitan pizza

Monday, July 1, Punta Helbronner - Skyway Mont Blanc

The Verace Pizza Napoletana Association takes the art of pizza to high altitude: an extraordinary event at 3466 meters above sea level.

AVPN climbs Mount Blanc for the record of Europe's highest pizza. The 40th anniversary calendar of the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association continues with an unprecedented event in the panorama of the continent's white art: on Monday, July 1, at 3 p.m., a culinary spectacle will be staged that surpasses an altitude of 3,000 meters. This unique feat will be staged in the enchanting setting of Mont Blanc, precisely on the highest point of the Punta Helbronner Skyway cable car, where a team of AVPN master pizza makers will kick off an authentic tribute to the culture of true Neapolitan pizza, in front of audiences around the world, in a live broadcast conducted by journalist Renato Rocco on the Association's social channels.

"A great event that has its roots," says Antonio Pace, President of AVPN, "in the project 'Pizza Napoletana no limits, no borders,' the philosophy that has long distinguished our Association and demonstrates how, after 40 years, thanks to our activity Neapolitan pizza has overcome both geographic and social barriers. True Neapolitan pizza has reached every continent and unites hundreds of millions of fans, of all ages and ethnicities, proving to be an increasingly global phenomenon. And we will be on Mont Blanc to take Neapolitan pizza where it had not yet arrived, namely to the highest peak in Europe: a tribute to 40 years of AVPN and to the entire world of pizza. To conclude, special thanks to Renzo Testolin, President of Valle D'Aosta, Luigi Canova, Skyway Director, and Mathieu Ferraris, Mayor of La Thuile for their precious hospitality and great interest in our initiative."

A highly anticipated event for pizza makers and fans alike, it promises to be a celebration in grand style as part of the Association's 40th anniversary celebrations.  A pizzeria station will be set up for the occasion, at the highest point of the cable car, where a team of professionals and engineers from the Marana company will assemble the wood-fired oven designed ad hoc in recent months for this occasion; an oven designed to guarantee the sources of heat required by the True Neapolitan Pizza even with the very special conditions of lack of oxygen as well as climatic deficiency present at high altitude. Protagonists of this great achievement will be master pizza makers Domenico Martucci, Mirko D'Agata, Cristiano De Rinaldi and Pasquale Mormile, led by General Secretary Paolo Surace and Instructor Salvatore De Rinaldi.

But the day of pizza at high altitude does not end there. Next, starting at 4 p.m., the Kids edition of "Neapolitan pizza maker for one day " will be held in La Thuile, at Piazza Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto. A meeting dedicated to children that will see the Association's master pizza makers accompany, with their hands in the dough, young enthusiasts to discover all the secrets of true Neapolitan pizza. The evening will continue with "A Thousand Thanks in Memory of Janira," the charity event dedicated to the granddaughter of master pizza maker Salvatore De Rinaldi who died prematurely, which will feature the making of more than 1,000 pizzas in the incredible landscape of the small town in Valle d'Aosta, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Lesixiemesens A.P.S. Association.

The event enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of La Thuile, the technical support of Skyway Monte Bianco, and sees the participation of international partners such as Bongiovanni, Gi.metal, Goeldlin Collection, InPact, Kbirr Napoli, Latteria Sorrentina, Marana forni, San Benedetto, Solania, Sunmix, and Woody Briketts.

Technical partners in the initiative are Jungle Juice ADV, La Buona Tavola, MG Logos, Raffaele Costigliola Design and Sokan Communication.
