AVPN: starts the fifth edition of the Vera Pizza Contest, the world championship of homemade pizza

Qualifications from Monday 30 September to 27 October, final in Naples on 19 and 20 November

The successful format that last year saw more than 1,400 competing pizzas from 55 countries changes

The date, for the millions of pizza lovers around the world, is one to be marked in red. The Vera Pizza Contest, the highly anticipated world championship of homemade pizza signed by AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), is back on Monday 30 September. After the enormous success of the last edition, which saw over 1,400 pizzas presented from 55 countries the challenge confirms the same format of the previous edition: technical jury composed of professional pizza makers and experts in the field. In addition to the virtual stage that will characterize the elimination phases until Sunday, October 27, is scheduled for the final in Naples which will see the top three of the ranking (Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 November).

During the contest, free and accessible to everyone, whose rules can be downloaded from https://www.pizzanapoletana.org/en/verapizzacontest, participants will be able to express their skills in the white art, choosing one of the pizzas provided for by the AVPN International Regulations. Whether it is a classic pizza or a creative variant, the indispensable requirement for the competition is home cooking, with a wood-fired, gas, electric oven or in a fryer. The jury will vote according to precise parameters: cooking, shape, dough and filling.

 

 “For us it is an essential format to promote pizza in the world – explain Antonio Pace, AVPN President – highlighting the choice of ingredients of the highest quality and the techniques described by our International Regulation. The great success achieved on all continents confirms the internationality and growing appeal of pizza all over the world, as well as the value of our association. There is great expectation for the competition and above all for the final which will be live for the first time and will offer the finalists the opportunity to present their creations in front of a prestigious jury, right here in our headquarters.”

In the first phase of the contest, from midnight on Monday 30 September to Sunday 27 October, aspiring pizza-makers will be able to apply by sending a photo of their pizza via Messenger to the Facebook page AVPN @verapizzanapoletana. The selection will follow, made by the Masters of the association, who will identify the best 10 pizzas in each of the 4 weeks to which the free registration for the Club of Vera Pizza Napoletana and qualification for the "Amateurs" category finals will go of the Real Neapolitan Pizza Champion 2025 from Naples. Final assessment in the second phase by 31 October. At this point the jury will have to draw up the ranking by deciding on the 3 finalists who will have the honor of performing before the jurors, his majesty the Daisy and a pizza of their choice.

The 3 winners, in addition to receiving a madia (wooden kneading box) and a supply of Caputo flour, a selection of Pizzolium and Frienn oil from Olitalia as well as a Gi.Metal equipment kit, depending on their position will receive:

  • The 1st place winner will win a 9-day basic professional course at the AVPN School, qualifying for the final of the category "Amateurs" of the Vera Pizza Napoletana Champion 2025 with flight and stay in Naples, a Effeuno pizza oven and the new Pizza Vita Mia kneader from Pagnossin.
  • The 2nd will be entitled to an advanced professional course of 3 days to be held at the AVPN School and qualification for the finals of the category "Amateurs" of the True Neapolitan Pizza Champion 2025 with flight to Naples. 
  • The 3rd place winner will go to an amateur course of 4 hours to be held at the AVPN School and qualification for the finals of the category "Amateurs" of the True Pizza Napoletana Champion 2025 with a stay in Naples.

The event will be attended by: Molino Caputo, Effeuno Forni, Olitalia, GiMetal and Pagnossin.
