Vera Pizza Day increasingly limitless: everything is ready to bring the True Neapolitan Pizza to Antarctica
Great attention for the preview of the food pairing project and for the masterclasses from South America.
The conference “La Verace Senza Confini” and the presentation of the Sant'Antuono Awards were of great interest.
A record-breaking edition of Vera Pizza Day which confirms Neapolitan pizza as an increasingly global phenomenon and celebrates January 17th, the day dedicated to Sant'Antuono Abate, Patron Saint of pizza chefs, as World Pizza Day. A date that was almost forgotten and that AVPN brought back into fashion 7 years ago. The 22 live masterclasses from 16 countries were successful both in numbers and in the enthusiasm shown by pizza lovers, who flooded every appointment of the day with questions and curiosities.
“A global success – underlines Antonio Pace, AVPN President – which increases our desire to bring the fascinating world of Neapolitan pizza to every corner of the globe. “No borders, no limits” is in fact AVPN's claim and above all in 2024 we want to commit ourselves to expanding the boundaries of our Association. We will also arrive in Antarctica shortly thanks to the collaboration established with the Parthenope University of Naples".
The novelty was presented yesterday during the Vera Pizza Day by Prof. Giorgio Budillon, professor of Oceanography and Atmospheric Physics at the Parthenope University of Naples: We are enthusiastic about the proposal from AVPN which has decided to give the Concordia base, a thirty-years project for national research in Antarctica, a Neapolitan pizza oven and a training course for the 30 Italian-French researchers who will remain there for 12 months with temperatures reaching -84.7°C. Having Neapolitan pizza represents for us the best way to be able to share the Italian cultural element par excellence with international scientific communications.
There were many engaging moments of the marathon, a real journey to discover all the expressions, trends and hot topics of the pizza world. Great appreciation for the masterclasses in Peru and Chile and for "A true pairing", the meeting that inaugurated the food pairing project, created by AVPN in collaboration with AIS Campania. The "True without borders" conference was very popular, the talk in which the most important players in the sector spoke on the topic of the expansion of pizza which continues to conquer new markets. The presentation of the Sant'Antuono Awards was highly anticipated, which saw the award ceremony of Antonio Puzzi, director of Pizza and Pasta Italiana, Paolo Torino, President of Canale 21 and the 4 delegation presidents, Peppe Miele, Manabu Odawara, Johnny di Francesco and Andrè Nevoso Guidon for having distinguished themselves in the dissemination of Neapolitan pizza culture.
The Vera Pizza Day initiative saw the participation of international partners such as Molino Dallagiovanna, Le 5 Stagioni, Molino Denti, Cirio, Latteria Sorrentina, Gi.Metal and Woody Brikkets. Technical partners of the initiative are the three young companies Jungle Juice ADV, Sokan Communication and Branding Records.
