Faithful to tradition, attracted by innovation.
The Annual Convention of the True Neapolitan Pizza Association, took place on January 29, it was an important opportunity for interaction and exchange for the organization that for 29 years has been promoting and protecting the celebrated Neapolitan dish in the world.
The convention is the first of the AVPN events that will take place during 2013 and will anticipate the initiatives under way for the next year to celebrate the thirty years of the association founded and chaired by Antonio Pace. The day of the conference was attended by the members and partners, as well as business operators, and was followed via Skype by delegates and affiliates from Japan, U.S., Brazil and Australia.
It was signed the Memorandum of understanding to establish the Federation of Pizza Associations , a new co-ordination of all the organizations that protect the many varieties of pizza in different Italian regions. Promoters: the True Neapolitan Pizza Association, chaired by Antonio Pace and The Association of Pizza Makers and Similar chaired by Antonio Primiceri.
There are many activities and initiatives launched for the 2013 by the director of AVPN Stefano Auricchio, including the participation in events around the world. The Neapolitan Pizza will reach Las Vegas in March, Japan and Canada in May, Taiwan in June, Brazil in July, the United Kingdom and Germany in August, Australia in September. Among the projects also stands out the scientific research entrusted to Prof. Vincenzo Fogliano of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University Federico II of Naples, a research about the digestibility of doughs made with different types of flour. Scheduled for the next months there’s also the realization of a book about the pizza, the title is Flour, water, yeast, salt, passion, written by AVPN and published by Malvarosa. To the volume will be attached an anthology of ancient Neapolitan songs that deals with pizza, edited by Thomas Edwards. Among the authors of songs, ranging from the sixteenth to the twentieth century, there are Salvatore Di Giacomo and EA Mario.
Were even announced new events dedicated to the Club of the Pizza Friends, the international community of AVPN dedicated to lovers of typical Neapolitan dish (https://www.pizzanapoletana.org/amicidellapizza.php). Will be organized in the next 12 months events in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association, Slow Food, Gambero Rosso, Italian Spaghetti and consortia of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP and of San Marzano, in addition to all qualified partners of AVPN.
An appointment particularly expected during the Convention was the Speaker Corner dedicated to Communicate pizza: journalists and bloggers in the field compared moderated by Massimo Di Porzio, Vice President of AVPN. The speakers Rosaria Castaldo, Laura Gambacorta, Monica Piscitelli, David Ricciardiello, Vincenzo Pagano and Antonella Orsini.
